This is a clip of my upcoming DVD that attempts to recreate the broadcast of the 1968 AFL Championship between the Raiders and Jets on December 29, 1968. I'm working on combining all possible footage (NFL Films highlights, broadcast clips, and the radio broadcast). Let me know what you think. I'll continue to work on it in my spare time. This is a work in progress. Radio broadcast is Jim Simpson and Al DeRogatis.

  • This is actually a much lower quality version of my work. I compressed the sample a lot. The original work is on my desktop hard drive. I need a processor and case to finish the repairs. When I fix it, I'll upload a higher quality version.

  • @LSpear76RCN....I know this is Jim Simpson doing the play by play...but i thought that Merle Harmon was doing the play by play on WABC 77 at that time. This game was blacked out in the NYC area---could this be what the rest of the country was watching (and listening to)?

  • @thefirstrayman this is the nbc radio broadcast. you may be referring to the local NY radio broadcast.

  • @TheTzdope hell yea

  • @TheTzdope That's because it's December 29th not October.

  • @4736dmr shea stadium was cold in october!!!

  • @TheTzdope That sucks man. There are a few games I've been dying to see and never will.

This one, the 1968 NFL Championship game (Cleveland/Baltimore) Super Bowl I, II, and V. And both the 1966 and 1967 NFL Championship games between The Packers and Cowboys

  • @GialloHorror there is no known tape of this jets-raiders game!

    i've been searching for years!!

  • @GialloHorror Oh yeah, and of course, "The Ice Bowl" any known copies of that? Does anybody know?

  • @deeniemarie7 Really interesting, I never knew about Warren Wells, but yeah sounds like he and Otis Taylor would've been a force had they played together

  • Is there any known tape of this game? I've been looking ofr this entire game forever to add it to my library. I've also been looking for Super Bowl V, and the "Sea of Hands" game between The Dolphins and Raiders from 1974.

It's amazing to see this! Thank you so much

  • This is awesome. You did a great job with this. It's really cool to hear Jim Simpson and Al D together on this broadcast.
