1964 was one of the more interesting years in pop music as the British Invasion led by the Beatles had begun, Motown had emerged, and yet there was still room for a simple folk tune to make the Top Ten as evidenced by this recording. The Serendipity Singers formed at the University of Colorado and made their way to New York City where you'd find them playing in Greenwich Village. "Don't Let The Rain Come Down" reached #6 in May of 1964, but the group found little success after it.

  • This song fascinated me when I was 5 years old -- I think it came out in 1975. I remember hearing it on the radio and telling my mother I liked it. She brought the 45 home for me one day, and I thought it was the most amazing thing to be able to hear my favorite song on a record whenever I wanted to.

  • @jeopardy60611 Actually, this recording was released in 1964, but you could have purchased a 45 rpm of it for many years after that....Nocaro

  • This was one of my favourite songs when I was growing up. Funny little man.

  • The first time I heard this song was 64-65 while I was in the Army serving in Okinawa. It was a catchy tune then and brings back fond memories even now.

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 LOL! Your friend sounds like a real jerk! With friends like him who needs enemies? If you asked me I'd have to say he's all wet! ; )`

  • I tell my YT friend that my my roof is leaking...and what does he send me??? - THIS!

    LOLOLOL......gotta laugh!..and gotta love my friend's ahem...sense of humour!!!

  • Their only other hit was "Beans In My Ears" also on the Phillips label from around the same time. Both are catchy folk type songs.

  • The uploader's comments could have been written by me, too.

  • One person disliked this song? Must be a Vulcan. They ruin everything._ Had the record as a kid, played it to ruin, still sing it around the house, mostly when my wife is asleep or not home, lest she wonder if my good sense is wobbling.

  • One of my favorites for a couple years anyway. lol I remember listening to it on my transistor radio in the 60's. I was 5 when it came out. That's a couple years ago,,, right? lol
