I sometimes get two or three passengers in my taxi and each of them is on the phone with someone else somewhere else... I only use my phone to call customers to get them to come out of the house or to find out if they are still there and it's worth my while to go and pick them up. I answer it when it rings but that doesn't happen often and I never text... I do bring my laptop to work so that I can try to keep up with all of my YouTube subscriptions when there's no business...

As you saw, i do habe a mobile phone. but i use it far more for Internet use, than anything else.

it certainly has its uses, but.... :)

I have such a hatred of cell phones. I work with a bunch of women who carry their cell phones with them constantly, even into the bathroom, for Christ's sake. I've even been in there when they were actually talking on the phone while in the stall.  I just don't get it.

I'm one of those dinoaurs who don't have a cell phone. I'm sure there are more like me out there. (Maybe 25 or 30 of us are out there!) :)

I know what you mean. Some people are totally lost without their phone & would never be without them.

i do wonder how some people managed before them. What did they do? :)

I never know how I feel about cell phones. I try to step back & look at myself & when I do I wonder if my dislike is a generational gap-is it where I start getting old & saying stuff like "kid's these days"? Cell use is new & maybe we don't get it. We say cell use is rude in situations where it's perfectly normal for 2 "real" people to be talking. We think it's rude when some one stops a conversation to text but kids live on multitasking. It won't seem so strange for the next generation.

I'm sure a lot of what we consider rude today, will become the norm in time to come. Just think how swearing has become far more acceptable over the years.

Like you, i'm in two minds about them as well. I understand their use, but they also annoy me at times. But, as i said, that's often more the user than the device itself :)

Reading some of the other comments here. It appears that the situation is a little worse over there, than in the UK. Which i find a bit surprising to be honest. I always thought you were the land of customer service.

Oh well, another illusion shattered :)
