George Ivan Morrison, his real name.... once you realise that you notice "george" is featured a lot in his songs.

Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" was one of the first singers to be censored. The omitted the line "makin' love in the green grass behind the stadium with you" I believe this was done for radio airplay in the UK. I remember we did hear the uncut version in 1965 here in the US.

This is his best work (entire album, well perhaps Moondance album on a par) that is saying much considering his body of work. I hope you get the chance to see his work with Tom Jones and Jeff Beck in Abey road sessions. Nice work too. Van Morrison makes a nice appearance on a great documentary of Blues and Rock Roll roots. (6 DVD set) worth watching for anyone seriously interested in music.
