With Kodak's Zi6, Zi8, and PlayTouch (Zi10) pocket camcorders, objects within a few feet of the lens tend to come out blurry in both normal and macro modes, due to the limitations of the fixed focus lens. But if you carefully adjust the normal/macro mode switch to an intermediate position, you can achieve razor-sharp focus on subjects of any distance. I made this video demonstrating the manual focus "hack" on my Kodak Zi6 (which I have since sold), but it also works identically well on the Zi8 and the new Zi10 "PlayTouch" pocket sized video cameras from Kodak, or almost any other brand of fixed focus camera with a similar normal/macro mode switch.

  • aiptek macro switch work like this as well?

  • @bakonfreek Yes.

  • I would never use a Mac or the OS itself. Too expensive and unreliable. Seen them crash at my old school all the time. I remember there was a hotkey combo to make them crash. I think "VlogginLife" or "Skaveen" would love this video, he's one of Davidsfarm's friends, and he uses a Kodak Playsport now, as well as some 720p glasses.

  • @talldude123 The Kodak PlaySport does not have a macro mode, therefore this trick would not work on it. It is strictly a fixed-focus lens, just like the "Flip" cameras.

  • I Have The Kodak zi6 And It Takes Awesome HD Video. This Camera Is a MUST GET!!

  • WOW, this is sweet. I was thinking of getting a Kodak ZI series for a pocket camcorder to have at all times. My only gripe was the focusing was not so good. Very cool!

I remember my Aiptek camcorder has the Macro switch on the side, but its actually loose and you can put it in any in between areas.

  • Thanks so much dude! I was having trouble focusing this camera and everything was blurry for me but now everything works fine! Thanks so much! I subbed and favorited, AND liked :D

  • It's pretty clear that he's using Windows XP

OS X suffers from the same problem that every OS does, i.e. it does what you say, not what you want.

  • @talldude123 Os x is anything but unreliable.

  • @EatenSniperGuy No, I actually recorded this video back in 2009, but never uploaded it to YouTube before.
