Russian River Brewing Company does not distribute it's beers in Georgia. That's been frustrating because I have wanted to try their beers, especially the Blind Pig IPA, Pliny The Elder IPA, and Pliny The Younger IPA. I had resigned myself to the idea that I would just have to wait until I took a trip out West in order to try them. But, last Thursday night I was keeping an eye on Twitter while watching the Giro D'Italia on my DVR I saw a "tweet" from a riding buddy of mine, Randy, saying he was enjoying the sunset in San Francisco while drinking some wine. WINE ! I thought, why isn't he drinking a great beer, like say Russian River? I immediately tweeted him back saying he needed to procure some Russian River Beers if at all possible, especially Blind Pig and Pliny The Elder. Randy's son Chris tweeted pretty much the same thing. That was all it took. Randy realized his error of drinking wine and instead set off to find some good craft beer. He ended up at a Whole Foods near his hotel and was able to get a couple of bottles that he brought back to Atlanta. SCORE!!! Twitter saves the day! So, for all you people who say Twitter has no meaning, I say Bull!!

  • @tsmalara It's originally supposed to be pronounced with a shooooort "i" but everyone went out and spread the loooong "i" so it's called whatever it's called. I understand that you live in the same state as Pliny's production, and that being an English teacher should make you an authority, but some short research should prove them right.

  • @VideoBeerReviews

Very true...the aromas are more efficiently noted in the "correct" glass, though. Kampai.

  • @tsmalara I've heard that it should be pronounced bot with a long and short "i". No matter how you say it, Pliny is good beer!

  • Hi Guys,

You seem really nice, but being out here in CA (and being an English teacher) I just have to tell you that it's Pliny with a loooong "i". It just killed me to hear you call it anything else. And, by the way, we absolutely love this beer in San Francisco. It's a A+ favorite. Cheers!

  • @Theclassiccarnut That seemed like the perfect music for the situation. Cheers!

  • Love the Buffet in the background!

  • @NOISETECHNICIAN1 I try to use the "correct" glass whenever possible but sometimes I just use a favorite pint glass. Great beer tastes great in just about any glass.

  • Love your reviews. Great to see someone that knows the proper vessel to serve ale of this caliber in. So many amateur geeks put this in a mug or pint glass. A travesty. Cheers.

  • @BGAKIRAKNOXVILLE Thanks for the offer! If you could follow up with me after the Holidays I might just take you up o it. Cheers!

  • Need a bottle?.. Contact me.

  • @havee3333333 You do have a point. But, I will say that at least the beer with their names on it are pretty good beers. As for what people 2000 years from now will think of us, who knows, but I'm not too worried about it as long as we all do the best we can while we are alive. Thanks for watching!

  • After reading works by Pliny the Elder and Younger, including Pliny the Younger's personal letters to his friends, they would be deeply offended if they knew that people 2 Millennium after their deaths knew them through alcohol.

Pliny the Younger and Elder wrote about being remembered through his great work for the Roman Empire, and their advancements in Knowledge, Science, History, and Literature.

It really makes you wonder how people 2 Millennium after our deaths will perceive us.

  • @cobhc07 Its a good beer to be a favorite!

  • My favorite beer of all time!

  • I am watching this after the Russian River Pliny the Elder was crowd the best beer in America. I have the link if you are interested.

  • @j47paco The bottles were probably a little older than "perfect" but the beer was still very tasty.

  • I'm wondering if those bottles were a little old or not properly refrigerated?! That initial smell shoulda knocked your socks off!! And there's almost zero malt flavor in fresh Pliny. Cheers! q

  • Why mix the two bottles. X_X !

  • @SnobbyBeer Thanks! Great beer is even better with good friends. Cheers!
