The short film "Mother" was selected for the 41º Festival of Brasília. The film by Luis Antonio Pereira will have the first screening in a Brazilian festival. This is one of the most expected festivals in the country, because of the selection of films that consists in unreleased material in the Brazilian territory, and also for the awards that reach over 160,000 dolars divided by shorts and features. The festival will run between the 18th and november 25th.
Mother is a dark humor comedy by Luis Antonio Pereira. Mother (Carla Marins) is a boss of the organized crime in Rio de Janeiro. She commands her actions from inside her fancy restaurant. The story starts, when her sister Silvia (Aline Fanju) appears showing marks of violence in her face, done by her cop husband. They decide to take vengeance against him. Silvia goes with the Mothers two bodyguards to the apartment of her husbands lover. Besides the plot, the film has no violent scenes, and the methods applied by the bodyguards are curious and funny.
Also in the cast: Elias Andreato, Priscila Assum, Salvatore Giuliano, Fabio Nascimento, Romulo Pacheco and Ton Reis.
