  • what polar pattern are those U95's set on? would a pair of cardioid condensers work well with this same set up?

i love your vids btw!! =D

  • @danmarcelino The U95s actually have a variable polar pattern so it could be set to omni, cardioid, figure 8 or anything in between. Cardioid condensers would work fine for this set up.

  • Any Suggestions for acoustic treatment when recording drums in small rooms, say a room that's 10 feet by 12 feet? A mix of absorption and diffusion? More of one than the other? My room won't sound as good as yours but any advice would be appreciated.

    Great videos, thanks!

  • @fattmudge That's a good question. Stay tuned to our channel in the next few weeks as we will be releasing a couple new video series, including one on acoustics and room treatment.

  • @FrenchosaurusRex Yes, this can also be refered to as the Glyn Johns method.

  • The SM57s are only like 100 euro/pcs or somthing.

  • What snare are you using?

  • That mic setup costs more than the drums.

  • Im wanting to mic up my kit but i dont have the money, are there any good mic's like these but cheaper ??

  • are there any suitable substitutes for the overheads besides the Soundelux mics that will do a decent job, yet don't cost as much?

  • @poshi12 I believe there is a similar method, the Glyn John's method, and that's the one they are using in the video

  • sweet video! you should do another showing how you mixed/eq'd/compressed the drums! keep the videos coming!

  • isn't this called the "recorder man method"?

  • Any reason those Glyn Johns mics aren't panned? Did this vid just not upload in stereo? Maybe I'm missing something. I love how amazing mics in a great room = great drum sound. Simple as that! Killer stuff. Also, tight drumming! You a session player?

  • I find making sure that your OH's are EXACTLY the same distance from the snare and kick makes a huge difference, (the snare sounds out of phase to me when you solo the OH's.) I take a piece of string from the center of the kick to one of the OH's then to the snare, mark the string where it meets the mic. If you don't move the string from the snare or kick you can place the second OH anywhere you want as long as it can be touched with the mark on the string the kick and snare will be in phase.
