So I got bored and I thought I'd put the time to quasi good use =)

So everyone knows the first part of the serenity prayer..if you've ever set foot in an AA meeting or even a Hallmark store-lol. You know it. It's beautiful, its simple its perfect.

But there's a second part and me being the complete literary nerd I am felt compelled to share it with you =P. It's not quite as easily applicable but its just as good.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

So yeah it was previously untitled but has since sort of acquired the title serenity prayer, and was written by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr (there is a really good chance I spelt that last name wrong), and was published about 1943, but possibly used in a sermon as early as 1934. If you look at history and the context surrounding the prayer (WW II etc) it is absolutely fascinating and def what the world needed at the time.
