  • The biggest problem people have with the 240 volt charger is their home's electrical capacity. Many older homes were wired with 100 amp or less electrical service. The car charger is classified as a continuous load. Thus mathematically your home is overloaded. If you apply for a welder plug permit which is an intermittent load you can do it. Your only charging the car while you're not using the dryer, range etc at night.
