I built this little pond skiff to retreive my RC model airplane if I landed in the water. Also to have a little fun rowing around the pond in it.

  • I added a link to the plans. Find it in the title.

Thank you for the nice comments!

  • Other glues you could use are Henkel 828471 PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive or Franklin International 5262 Titebond Heavy-Duty Construction Adhesive. Amazon.com had it and places like Home Depot and Lowe's. Pick up some solvent while your at there, your going to need it.

  • I used Titebond III wood glue & stainless steel screws, then I fiber-glassed the bottom, sides & back of the boat using automotive fiberglass cloth and resin with multiple coat's. I also glassed the seams & beam on the inside of the boat. This is a step I chose to do to make the Skiff more durable and water tight. It's a very expensive and messy process. You can leave this step out but just make sure you keep a good coat of paint on the skiff to keep the water out.

  • I painted the skiff with some marine quality boat paint. RUST-OLEUM Marine paint

Called Topside. But any Oil base Marine paint will do the job.

Hope that helps you. Good luck with your project!

  • Coming from a former lobsterman... That is a great looking little skiff !!!, good job !!!. I am currently building a 12' skiff that is somewhat similar to that, but with more beam and higher sides.

Thanks For the nice compliment on my boat!

  • Great little boat. I have been wanting to build a wooden skiff for years. That may be the starter size to get my skill better on. Great job.

  • Nice job. Have fun with it!

  • what did u use to seal all the seems?

  • I'm currently building a boat myself and i was just wondering, what did you use to cover the outside of the boat with so it would be waterproof? Is that some sort of paint?
