Fireball Shooter 01

A fireball shooter the I built over the course of two days with various types of results including sparks and green flames (don't worry, there is actual video). Here's the website where you can purchase the materials:

UPDATE (June 23, 2008): Proto 2 has been dismantled. JB weld did not hold the end cap in place due to not enough contact between the tube and the nut. I've built Proto 3 which has a better end design allowing more contact between the tube and the nut. However, I would reccomend not using brass tubing. I noticed that the inside of the tube gets coated with a kind of green mush (probably a reaction between the brass and the flash cotton resulting in copper oxide). Aluminum tubing might be better, but it will definately be lighter.

UPDATE (June 25, 2008): Proto 3 is finished and Proto 4 is almost ready for testing. However, I've been delayed by the death of my one and only glo-plug. When Proto 4 finishes testing, more videos will be uploaded.

UPDATE (November 11, 2008): Many apologies for not getting around to uploading the next video. In college and fireball shooters are generally frowned upon by security. The last version works great and I'm currently experimenting to create different colors for the flash paper (as of now I can make green and red). I believe I have a method to create purple flames...

As an ignition source?

I would imagine that the capacitor would burn out the diode quickly and it would cease to do anything after a few uses at best.
