(continued from below) meat and junk food, yet turn their noses up at me for eating salads and drinking tea. Hmmmm, wonder if the Word came from the fact that Emma was upset at Joseph and the boys for drinking hard liquor and spitting tobacco on the floors. He, in turn, was upset for all of her tea parties with the ladies. And from this sprang the word of wisdom....He kept drinking beers and Brigham's boys were very successful with their tobacco crops.
Nowhere in canonized Mormon literature states that coffee is forbidden. All that is stated is "hot drinks are not for the body or belly". Also, at the beginning of D&C 89, it specifically states that the Word is NOT BY COMMANDMENT OR CONSTRAINT. Read further and you will learn more interesting things: meat is only to be used sparingly, in winter or times of famine. Strong drinks are forbidden, however mild ones made of barley and other grain are okay! All my LDS friends guzzle coke and devour
Mormons who drink coffee show me that they are NORMAL. As for those who don't drink coffee, they can't fit into my world very well, because my world is very full of coffee, as I am a coffee FANATIC!
If I ever talk to a Mormon missionary someday, it will have to be at Starbucks, or else. Not at my home, nope. Starbucks.
I always thought that Mormons drinking coffee was an oxymoron. This video is refreshing, in a way, and I'm not even Mormon. I just have Mormon friends.
We're not PERFECT lol. We're regular people. We drink coffee.. it's just not suggested.. you know.. because of the caffine. caffine is addictive and we just simply try to stay away from addictive things ya know? that's all..
My former physical therapist, when I was recuperating from a severely sprained back, is Mormon, and he drinks coffee. In fact, I was surprised when he told me he is Mormon, right after he had just started on his second paper cup full in front of me.
The guy in the video makes the second Mormon I know of who drinks coffee.

"Not drinking coffee is actually the most logical when you think about it. No alcohol, no smoking, no sex; why stay awake?"
