No, it's not toilet training, it's Elimination Communication or 'EC' for short. For more on EC visit my website:
http://naturalbaby.info

My son has been using the potty since he was 7 months old, though not exclusively. He likes to use the potty and he's been doing virtually all his poops in it since he was about 1 year old.

Contrary to what we are taught to believe, babies are born with the instinct not to soil themselves. Yes, it's amazing! We teach them to use diapers and later re-teach them not to use the diapers. Confusing, isn't it? Imagine how confusing it must be for the kids!

It does take some effort to do EC, but the results are a child that happily uses the potty like it was the most natural thing in the world- which it is, really. EC is sometimes called "infant potty training", but it's really not potty training at all. It is a gentle, natural, and non-coercive alternative to toilet training.

And one bonus (among many) for parents is never having to struggle with conventinally toilet training or changing diapers on a 3 or 4-year-old.

  • ok, my "baby" is the size of a poppy, but EC and nursing seem so much cheaper......wonderful job w/Gunner, and the Leigh weaning vid was saaaaad :-( the downside to breastfeeding is it has to stop eventually or Moms will end up like the lady in England w/ the nursing 8 year old...to each his/her own but DANG!

  • Well, not exactly. Usually, the children wean themselves by 3-4 years old. The girl in England had stopped nursing shortly before turning 7, but she was 8 at the time of the video, and no longer nursing.

A child's immune system matures fully by between 4-6 years old, so it is not that strange that nursing could go on that long in some cases.

  • I started ECing my 7month old when I noticed that I'd always know when she needed to poop so I would take off her nappy and let her do it onto the open nappy (while lying), so I bought a potty yestersay and the first time I put her on it she pooed!! And today I caught about 4 wees and a poo! that is after 1 day of ECing, I found it quite easy, you just have to be aware.

  • he's so cute...what a clever boy..how old is he?

  • I hope you get back into naturalbaby.info - what a lot of good you are doing.

  • EC is truly wonderful! It's a great way to prevent rashes and save money as well as make for a happier, cleaner baby.

I'm not very good at this method in my opinion, but it changed the way I communicate with my babies. A lot of expressions and baby attitudes make more sense when you EC. You don't have to be very good at it to reap rewards, and with experience you get better at speaking their "language."

  • Good on you guys for doing this, not a lot of parents can tune into their kids like that.

  • WHERES HIS TITTIE?

  • DID HE WIPE HIS OWN ASS?

  • DID MOMMY GIVE HIM SOME TITTI AS A REWARD FOR AN EXCELLENT SHIT? OH! I FORGOT, HES ALWAYS SUCKIN ON MOMMY ANYWAY!

  • @Kindergarten666 OH YES! HOW FUCKING SPECIAL!

  • videoing ya kid shiting is just wrong

  • THIS IS NUTS! A GOLD STAR FOR A GOLD SHIT!
