  • Is this a daily test? I'd agree with RJBfirechief1 that it is overkill. Siren signals should be very distinct from each other. The system used in Germany makes the most sense: 3 15-second blasts for a fire call, 3 minutes steady (alert) to signal people to tune in to emergency broadcasts, and 3 minutes of 5 second rise/fall (attack) for evacuate or take cover. A noon signal should be a single blast of 15-30 seconds.

  • Overkill! It works, it doesn't need to continue. People get used to that and blow it off.

  • Yeah it's a single phase 10V, you can hear the centrifugal switch kick back in and kill the wind down near the end, which is what makes it sound like it has a brake.
