why do all these cloth simulations look like the materials used are stretchy like rubber. stupid and bad.

Probably a gaming graphics card. I'm guessing they're using polygons in this demo.

Daryl Obert, Application engineer for Autodesk. I saw him do this demo at the "What's new in Maya 8.5" seminar in Manhattan when it was released. I got to meet him, nice guy :)
