i think this was the only book I've ever cried while reading. Very powerful, and makes you appreciate every meal you have.

Bad farming practises? Massive dust storms and bad economic times? Well we have a global economic crisies and here in Australia we have just had the biggest dust storm I have ever seen in 51 years of living. And, the only other dust storm I have ever seen was 4 months ago. Here we have been having a drought for 8/9 years. Bad farming practises, well that goes with out saying. Ain't much changed is there?

NO! of course the migration was never due to "dust storms and bad farming practices.." That is an immoral lie! It was due to the constant & willful strategy of the bankers ONCE AGAIN drawing farmers & many others into debt and then foreclosing on their properties. The depression was created by the bankers as a huge fishing net to catch millions of properties and farms- refer to S&L scandal in 80's... does anyone remember another little bankers' ploy- the 2008 sub prime "debacle"

One of my favorite writers, Great book, I think many ideas can be taken from this story. The idea that I got and the interpretation of the ending is that despite being in hard times, the Joads gave to others. Letting others stay with them, helping out others, giving away their food. Until ultimately in the end Rose of Sharon even gives away her dignity. Fantastic book one of my favorites.

Perfect example of how AGW (climate and weather events) can ruin people's lives, but so-called conservatives only want to talk about taxation and other surface issues.

You need to read more. Make no mistake, GW is a great book, but should hardly stand alone in producing emotion.

uno dei miei romanzi preferiti! Bellissimo anche il film...con il grande -e quindi...sottovalutato!- John Carradine!
