A total of 45 volunteers left DHL Express offices in Sao Paulo for a three-hour bus ride to Socorro for the DRT training in Brazil. "It is a privilege for us and Brazil to help organizing this training because this is very important to our country," said Debora Wills, DRT volunteer from DHL Express." The volunteers were given instructions on how to operate radios and how to create so-called Speedball bundles of relief goods, which are packed into brightly coloured shipping bags that can be dropped from helicopters wherever they are needed. First aid training was also provided by a Brazilian expert while team members waited for a helicopter to pickup their Speedballs and test their construction techniques. The participants agreed that the DRT training was well organized and structured around the skills they would really need if called upon to respond to a disaster situation. One of the participants' final activities was the aptly named DRT Chaotic Warehouse Game.
