The "hibiscus bee," Ptilothrix bombiformis, is a flower specialist on rose-mallows --a few members of the genus Hibiscus. The females provision their nest-burrows with pollen gathered from the flowers. This video shows several bees gathering pollen from flowers at Stage's Pond State Nature Preserve in PIckaway Couny, Ohio on August 24, 2009.
