and as for the button it looks like bone or ivory ..with out holding it i could not tell you for sure tho. i am a prospector/miner so i have found many strange things over the years.... from buttons,to civil war lead bullets,buckles,gold/silver rings and even a old old colt peace maker gun (ball&cap).. so you can find many things out there with your metal detectors.. so don't give up on ya hobby and don't let some bone head tell you any different.. get an ebay account or craigs list and u can sell those spikes to a forger who doesnt want to get them hiself i get them myself but u could sel them for 2 dollars 2 dollars each and by the way those numbers corospound the part of track the spike is located the measerments and possibly a company name.
