and as for the button it looks like bone or ivory ..with out holding it i could not tell you for sure tho. i am a prospector/miner so i have found many strange things over the years.... from buttons,to civil war lead bullets,buckles,gold/silver rings and even a old old colt peace maker gun (ball&cap).. so you can find many things out there with your metal detectors.. so don't give up on ya hobby and don't let some bone head tell you any different.. cjohco... try to be nice to people... metal detecting is a fun hobby maybe you should get off your duff and try it some time you might like it your self... and not be so bitter about life its self... keep up your hunting girl don't let this lil man change your mine....keep your coil to the ground... don't know what type of metal detector you have but you can discriminate the iron/metal to find what u want to find... i OWN a Ace150,Ace250,Bounty Hunter 505Pro & a Goldbug2 metal detectors ..

get an ebay account or craigs list and u can sell those spikes to a forger who doesnt want to get them hiself i get them myself but u could sel them for 2 dollars 2 dollars each and by the way those numbers corospound the part of track the spike is located the measerments and possibly a company name.
