Congressman McClintock: Time for Tough Love for California's Budget

The recession was merely the catalyst for California's budget crisis; the underlying cause is rampant mismanagement of the states resources. California spends $43,000 per year to house a prisoner while many states spend just half that. California spends over $11,000 per pupil, but only a fraction of that ever reaches the classroom. California has one of the most expensive welfare systems in the country and yet one of the worst records of moving people off welfare.

And thats never seemed to bother Californias governor and legislature.

Here in the Dallas suburb where I live, we've had 3 families in my neighborhood alone, move in from California. We met all of them at our community celebration days and all of them were hardworking, god fearing and law abiding just fed up with life where they came from so of course we welcomed them and helped them settle in Texas style! As far as the leaches and criminals and that are driving that state to ruin, well you can stay behind and see what becomes of you. Your loss is our gain.
