@m109r67 Of course, nobody knows. This is all theoretical. But at that time Mike was dominating the heavyweight division, sharp, focused, hungry, and surrounded by a great corner (Cus, Rooney, Atlas). Evander wasn't even a heavyweight. Logically, I see Mike taking that fight at that juncture.
It's all about timing, and picking the right opponent at the right time. No up & comer wanted any piece of a 20-23 year old Tyson. That's why he "never fought anybody great" during his prime.

@illuzn88 They had a street fight! Mike lost that too. Lewis threw one punch Tyson hit the ground and tried to bite his leg like a chick would. ROTFL.

When Tyson fought Spinks Holyfield wasn't even a heavyweight, and Tyson would have destroyed him. The version Evander fought was no longer "Iron Mike". Even by this Ruddock fight Mike wasn't nearly as sharp as he once was. And after prison his skills diminished even more. Tyson still gave him a fight, and if not for Holyfield opening a cut above his eye with headbutts, it could have been a different fight.
Mike finally went up against someone that fought dirtier than he did.

they should've just ended the fight early because Ruddock basically hung onto the back of Mike's neck like 20 times each round.... i don't see that stupid ref warning him except telling him to get off his neck.

@michaelvkelly1 had Tyson fought Holyfiend the night he defeated Spinks Holyfield would have destroyed him then too. Tyson doesnt have the mental toughness to beat a guy like Holyfield.
