I set in motion the action steps needed to get going with Smart Recovery and learning more powerfull strategies to combat my addictions head on and full steam ahead. I am looking forward to life like I wanted to and feel great !!

  • SMART has a clinical study starting up for new SMART members. Requirements: Joined SMART in the last 30 days, and have drank heavily sometime in the last 90 days. You can find info in the discussion board on the SMART site.

Check it out. It includes compensation for your time, and helps SMART with data for refining their recovery program. You can be a paid lab rat!

  • @ndrthrdr1 Hi ...thanks for the heads up !! I had already stumbled upon the study when I whent browsing in the web site so I am signed up for it and on my way to starting the program....I have kind of slacked off AA in the past couple of weeks...I dont even feel like going to meetings but I am well aware of what to do and not to do...to stay clean and I am getting stronger ...resolve wise as the days go on...to do something more empowering !!!! • Oh thank you thank you thank you SMART Recovery. I was nearly brainwashed into the 12 steps in rehab. I AM NOT POWERLESS AND I DON'T HAVE A DISEASE. What a ridiculous suggestion when you think about it; and insulting to people with ACTUAL diseases.

  • Irishraver.

You sound like one of those AA Nazis, you know the ones I mean. You can probably quote the big book and 12 x 12 in your sleep.

You believe the only way is the AA way.

Don't you also say take what you need and leave the rest? AA is not for everyone. I chose Smart Recovery and am well over 5 years sober and happy as hell. So lighten up Irish.

  • why DO YOU GUYS SAY, smart recovery v AA.. THATS LOOKING FOR A FIGHT. NOT VERY SPIRITUAL REALLY... LOL. YOU GUYS SEEM TO BE A BUNCH OF GUYS WHO HAVE NEVER DONE A STEP IN YOUR LIVES, HAVE NOT GAINED ANY TYPE OF RECOVERY. MAYBE 30 DAYS HERE AND THERE.. LOL . COME TO A REAL FELLOWSHIP WHERE WE GET IN TUNE WITH SELF .. @NDRTHDR.. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SOBER NOW ?

  • Cheers

How are you doing? Still sober?

  • @ndrthrdr1 ...and if I had said that in kindergarten, to my subconscious and to everyone around me, then first grade, then second grade ..., by now I'd be convinced that's what I am, rather than what I once was.

  • As far as AA goes, I disagree with the self-identifying thing they do (I'm _____ and I'm an alcoholic.

I used to suck my thumb as a kid. almost until kindergarten. I apparently clung to that habit longer than what's considered normal. It would seem pretty foolish to keep standing up these days and saying "I'm _____ and I'm a thumb-sucker." :)
