Start up the wii holding - and + at the health screen. Hit A while still holding them.

  • Haha thats it? 9000 view for that lmao.

  • Lol you dont seem to understand this.. This is not a virus or even a hack. This basically a debug mode or something. Nintendo built this into their system on purpose and we just found it. It might possibly lead to running unsigned code like emulators if this can be used as an exploit.

  • Thats what i figured too. It seems like we're missing some hardware to utilize this sucker.

  • What does this do exactly. Is it a virus that could screw up the Wii?

  • Lol no. Its simply a different mode that the Wii is built to enter. No one is sure of its purpose though..

  • No it doesn't

  • Does this damage the Wii in any way? I want to try it!

  • all it did with me is it erased some of the messages in the message board, but if your in "maintinence mode" just press the home button and click wii menu and it should go away

  • yes its somethang nintendo uses to sent old console games and to get a webcam feed

  • how long does this last

  • It's used by the people who work on your wii when its broken so they can't see your personal info. Bummer, I know.

  • lol I tryed this out-it worked.

I had no clue what it was (other then maintenance mode lol) so I called nintendo the lady who I spoke with, Brenda, said she'd never heard of such a thing or a question. She said she'd ask the help desk but I didn't wanna wait so I never found out what it was.

I guess Nintendo customer service people don't even know about it. Hmm... anyody here know what it is?

  • Well put. Also put this if you play your Wii too much!

  • I have found what it is for. The purpose of it is kinda depressing. When you send a wii in to be repaired, employees must only use the wii in maintanence mode so they cannot see your personal info, explaining why the country and message board buttons don't work.
