Interesting that it takes surfers to tell the truth about life in Hawaii.

Having been born and raised here and finding myself back here after briefly living in LA, I can tell you that the major problem is the cost of living exceeds wages. Rents are nearly the highest in the nation and jobs with good-paying wages are few and far between and even if they were would be canceled out by COL.

No wonder the homeless population has expanded greatly for more than decade here.

i dont know about california but taxes go up in america im sorry you can just look at it like this if a bilevel in upstate ny is round 9000 a year in taxes how much do you think it was in the 80s, plus florida is based off the price of the house which is a bit nicer, but thats ignorant he prolly didnt mean it like that but no way do taxes not go up on homes you bought

Where does all of the money go? Taxes suck, and Hawaii is the perfect example of an over taxed state. The Hawaiian population needs to vote for less taxes, better education, and better governmental jobs.

@Surfthrees Just to inform you cause it sounds like you're not from here, even having a Job in Hawaii just isn't enough. The pay for an average person is pathetic considering how much the average rent and bills have sky rocketed. A lot of people I know need 2 or 3 jobs just to have food on their table and that alone is just gut wrenching to even think about. Also, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a 50,000 dollar pay check from a contest. Thats how some of us can survive
