Meet Chris Mosier. To say he is a Phoenix Suns basketball "fan" would be an understatement. An all out fanatic? Well, you're getting closer.
Although he's lived most of his life bound to a wheelchair, since being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) when he was just 5 years old, he hasn't let that stop him from watching, playing, and coaching the game he loves.
While he stopped walking completely in the 5th grade, he continued to play basketball until age 18. Since he could not be the all-star athlete that he would have been in high school, he instead helped with coaching.
Chris once told his sister, Lisa: "Even if I can't play, I still need to be a part of the game. That's why I coach."
In fact, Chris personally took on the task of coaching his sister Lisa after she failed to make the basketball team, promising her he could get her ready for next season. Lisa recapped having Chris as her coach: "Chris is such a tough coach! He pushed me really hard everyday and would not let me quit. But thanks to Chris, the next season, I made the team."
Lisa wrote the Front Row Foundation, and this is what she said: "Chris always lives life as if he was in the front row, but he never gets to be in the front row. He doesn't get to go to a lot of places anymore. He sits at home in his wheelchair and watches sports all day now. Chris would love nothing more than to go sit front row at a Phoenix Suns basketball game, or to even meet one of his favorite players (Steve Nash is his favorite!) To say that Chris is a fan would be an understatement, and we hope Front Row Foundation can make his dream a reality!"
