SONIC,sonic can do damage without power-ups unlike mario who can only jump in normal form,while sonic can attack.

I'm not gonna place an opinion because that only starts arguments. But I can say however, that I find Mario games more enjoyable but I do like Sonic as a series to be a lot better. Both of the soundtracks are equally awesome though!
