As the principal of Frost Elementary School and the Indigo parent participation program, Robert is well-known for his commitment to learning, sharing, and celebrating the cultures of the diverse school community every day.
Robert works tirelessly to create a strong sense of community among families, and to ensure they understand that they have the power to be an important voice at their childrens schools. As a result of his support, Frost and Indigo enjoy the benefits of many vibrant and involved parent groups.
Roberts efforts to promote cultural identity extend beyond the boundaries of Frost and Indigo. Three years ago, he created the Oak Grove School District Cultural Arts Exposition, which celebrates the communitys racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity through visual and performing arts. Featuring the talents of students and family members from every school in the district, this annual event strengthens community spirit and unity through performing and visual arts.
Says nominator Leslie Gaynor, Robert makes a significant impact every single day helping young people and their families feel comfortable with and proud of their cultural identity. He is indeed a positive cultural identity asset champion!
