yes Elton didnt want to appear in videos anymore and he wanted to help out his friend Downey after downey was having trouble getting work after his drinking and drug problems so Elton put him in as a stand in to lipsink the words in a video which Elton said was supposed to be a tribute to the beatles sound and to the IMAGINE video which John Lennon put out in the 70s....the video was done in one continuous shot.

just so everyone knows for sure. Elton john is the SINGER of this song, he also does play the piano in it. robert downey, jr. lipsynched the song for the video, and he did a great job. if you look this up on wikipedia or imdb.com, you will see that robert was only miming the words. thanks.
