In February 1994 Peter Phillips and the Tallis Scholars performed on the 400th anniversary of the death of Palestrina in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome, where Palestrina had trained as a choirboy and later worked as Maestro di Cappella.
That is the most beautiful recording of that piece and on the perfect setting. Those top C's Wow!! Thank you for posting. Definate shiver down the spine moment when they started.
By the end of the 18th C, the skills of the Papal Choir were insufficient for improvisation. A standard version of Allegri’s Miserere was written which has been performed ever since (here by the Tallis Scholars). For a re-creation of the version with embellishments (not improvised but based upon the research of a musicologist) visit A Sei Voci’s website. Allegri’s Miserere will never be the same for you after hearing this version!

I was wondering why your previous video for this was removed, but I see this is longer. Thanks!
