  • I worked on this commercial a zillion years ago. It was done WITHOUT computers, using traditional cel animation to simulate digital graphics. Ironically, I now animate WITH a computer trying to duplicate the look of cel cartoons.

  • From my very limited experience working indirectly for them, the Rainier beer company's coolness went beyond their commercials. I vaguely remember them sending a couple of guys with a video camera up here to Vancouver to get some shots of us. They were putting together a fake, humorous "making of" video to show at a company party or something.

  • That *is* ironic! Well, I love this ad, so a retrospective thanks to ya! It's funny, goofy and weird all at once. The Rainier people had a great sense of the offbeat. I only saw two ads back when they were running (Beerish on America and Frogs), so this one's totally new to me.

  • Damn! I've only seen this commercial a decade ago on TV Land's Retromercial bit, but I could tell someone was hard at work trying to replicate something that could easily pass for the Atari VCS/2600. :-)

  • Being reminded this ad also popped up on TV Land in the late 90's on their "Retromercials" bits.
