At last a detailed video oh how to tie a plaid! The following video demonstrates how to correctly wear the pipers plaid which is also worn by drum majors when wearing the full dress uniform. How a drum major should tie and wear a plaid is explained by D/M Alistair Pether is the drum major for RAF (Royal Air Force) Halton Pipes and Drums. Drum Major Pether is a graduate of the British Army's Edinburgh Castle drum major's course and has performed in the Edinburgh Tattoo, held in Scotland, several times. D/M Pether has also competed in drum major contests held through out the U.K. and has placed at the Drum Major World Championships several times. Drum Major Pether is the founder of www.DrumMajor.co.uk, an educational site for pipe band drum majors.

  • Douglas tartan, nice.

  • عادات جميلة ..

  • Years ago woman would put the baby in a Plaid wrapped over one shoulder encompassing the child and under the opposite arm especially when the wean was ill to nurse them hence even to-day we say if tired think I need half hour in the Plaid lol great what sparks a memory great vid very interesting.

  • Useful video Alistair! May I just add a further tip - to allow the plaid brooch to stand upright - give the short end of the plaid a couple of twists BEFORE you pass it over the epaulette - this will create more of a knot into which the brooch can sit. Just an old army tip! (Hope you don't mind!)

  • Great stuff and so helpful to those who need to know these things. Keep up the good work
