You need to watch "02 FL Studio Music Theory Primer : Intro to Scales" first, or you will be lost. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCRcCddflhA

This Music theory video is intended for electronic musicians.

In this video we will talk about the three different types of minor scales. We will also take a look at finding any relative scales for the natural minor keys. The Ascending and descending properties of the melodic scale will be discussed in detail. Creating a better reference scale for melodic scales will also be covered.

  • Thanks a lot for your help and explanation, i really appreciate all your efforts. I will be composing music only through FL Studio or may be some other software and for that matter, if i move scales up or down to find out relatives and if they encounter black keys, can i safely call them as flats always?

  • @vikrantagnihotri It doesn't matter - call them sharp or flats. They are enharmonic - your choice.

  • @ste1438 I Only use FL Studio.

  • @ste1438 is there a #4

    '/.

  • @mistalox not yet - the music theory videos were not doing well at first . So I wasn't sure if it would be worth producing more. Seems to be more interest now. I' want to create videos 4 to ? - covering "harmony and chords" eventually. I haven't had any free time to upload videos to YouTube for a while. I;m going to make time real soon .

  • if you think fl studio is the best thumbs up

  • @Desir3fless You are talking about chords. Using your ear is the best way to create chords. You know what sounds bad. I have not covered chord theory, and not too many are interested in music theory. I don't think I'll be covering any more music theory directly. Anything related to music theory just doesn't get views - sign of the times. I am frustrated about it because I think it is important. I plan on sneaking it in, and force feeding chord theory in an upcoming video though.
