Well, it needed to be done sooner or later so today I carved out some button slots, soldered on some wires and changed the buttons on this beast here. Should be fun to play for anyone who comes over
Great videos Luke! Just to pass on some info, for those who want more buttons but dont want cut there panel, there are a few places that sell astro panels on the web:
Also remember that blast city panels will work on a astro city cab as well.
Also, I think the only real wiring difference with MK1 cabs with the 2 different boards is the "kick-harness", or the extra connector for the low-punch and low-kick buttons for both players. So the sound cards are supposed to work (interchangeable) from a Y-Unit to a T-Unit board. You could try the sound card from your working T-Unit on your Y-Unit board and see if that is the problem and vice-versa (try the bad sound board on the T-Unit.) Cheers!
me pasarias algunas medidas del gabinete?? saludos gracias desde Argentina

@jorant just find the smallest that will fit your buttons, the buttons cover up any rough cuts, so likely you should be good if you eyeball it.

What size hole saw did you use exactly? I'm turning my 3 button Astro City into a Capcom vs SNK 2 and need more buttons.

if u used the colors on the controller/ button area on the mortal kombat artwork, it would look better.
