A visit to one of the worlds most unique and thought provoking contemporary art collections, set in a remote and beautiful location - Bodega Colomé, in the Calchaquí Valley, Salta, Argentina.

The third and newest museum, "James Turrell Museum at the Bodega Colomé" -- an 18,000-square-foot gallery dedicated solely to the work of James Turrell -- was opened in Colomé in April 2009. The museum was planned and constructed in close collaboration with Turrell and showcase nine permanent light installations and numerous drawings and prints spanning five decades of his artistic career. Donald Hess has been collecting works by James Turrell for the past 30 years and commissioned two new installations for the museum in Colomé: Unseen Blue 2002, the world's largest Skyspace, and Spread 2003, a 4,000-square-foot walk-in environment of blue light. All works on display are drawn from the Hess Art Collection, Bern, Switzerland, in which Turrell is represented with 24 pieces.
