The problem with this country is that some Americans do not bother to seek facts. The surge was a great failure - we're still over there occupying the country.

Wrong again - the surge was Bush's bright idea to send 20,000+ troops to bring peace, so that the Iraqi people could form government. That did not happen! So the surge was a great failure like everything else the man every did. Also it's a civil war and our troops are in the middle of it -shi'ias and Sunnies

The surge was to place 20,000 US troops in Iraq to bring peace so that the Iraqi people could form their own government. More troops brought calm in the area, but the Iraqi people didn't form their government. So, how exactly did the surge work? It was a waste of time & money, because there's no government & as soon as troops leave the killing will start again. Obama spoke of a timeline w/Iraqi leaders & they agreed. Bush has now adopted OBAMA'S PLAN as McCain, the losers!

Hey Zenawi, Al Qaeda moved on alright. Right up to Allah's heaven with its 2 virgins per al qaeda member. Used to be 72 per person, but the US armed forces killed so many Al Qaeda there just aren't enough virgins in the world. Al Qaeda thought they were on some romantic revolutionary trip by coming to Iraq. After all, the Americans are going to cut and run when things get tough. Surprise, Habeeb. Hasta la vista; Arriverderci, baby. Training ground my ass.

Hey habeeb hate to break it to you but the surge did work, its clear that it did, even the media is saying it did. The only reason Obama can even think of removing troops to send to afg is because of the Surge he did and does not support.
Oh by the way Muqtada is a joke, he is a hypocrite who issues Fatwas that Sistani says are not valid (as well as the rest of Hawza) he is called Mula Atari because he failed seminary. And he puts his own army at risk for his own power. Thats all he wants

30,000 troops are not going to make a dent where 150,000 troops failed. Muqtada al-Sadr's army can face off anyone anytime for little reasons and him going to Iran is not a matter of surge. Al Qaida "PUNKED" Bush.
Iraq became a training field for AQ.(many servicemen died). Training is over... Al Qaida moved on...Pakistan and Afganistan.(We should do the same ASAP to win. Not surge.When Obama says he would vote against the surge...the whole thing is just a big mess & needs to end.
