This shows the original Charlie Chaplin Studios going up in Hollywood, CA. It's the intro from a 1959 film called The Chaplin Revue, which he narrates. As you can see, not much was around there in those days except orange groves.

  • How handsome wasn't he back in these days? *drooling*

And look! They are rehearsing for Sunnyside :D

"On the 32 take the little fellow became quite a dead-weight. It was very trying on the muscles of my arms." But he's not thinking about poor Loyal Underwood :P

Thank you so much for sharing this clip!

  • Apparently not 1915, though. According to Wikipedia, "Chaplin reportedly built his "English cottage-style studio" in three months beginning in November 1917, at a reported cost of only $35,000.... Construction of the studios was completed in approximately 1919"

  • Does anyone know whether the Chaplin Revue movie has a narrative soundtrack added during the actual movies? Or is it just his voice in between?

  • @veinfullypanicc: His voice was so musical and delightful, wasn't it?

  • Good old Hollywood before the new stars destroyed it

  • @bobbsyjo72 Yeah, but they ruined it and its not as big and has a Kermit the Frog statue standing on it. I don't think you can go inside either :'(

  • that little laugh when the younger him arrives is sooo cute, as if he were shy to present himself.

  • Does anybody have a time machine??? I would like so much to know him......:)

  • OMGSH. I nearly flipped my lid when I heard is delightful voice. He sounds so proper! <3

  • Thank you so much for posting this.I'm so glad the Chaplin Studio on La Brea is still standing, even though it's now the Henson Studio. But you gotta love the statue of Kermit as The Little Tramp.Brilliant.
