Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine" still resonates months after my read. Harlem faces it's own "shock" by displacement of small businesses, thru gentrification and rezoning . Proprietor Ray Corona, is being forced into eviction. He shuts the doors to this Pioneer Supermarket on February 29, 2008.

New York is going to shit. You think Manhattan is getting gentrified? At least you manhattanites can get jobs in Midtown and around you're neighborhood.
Have you been to the outter boroughs lately? Cops harass native New Yorkers to no end theres no jobs in the outter boroughs AT ALL. Brooklyn has too much crime, QUeens is becoming racially segragated and the Bronx is still the Bronx (although) its getting a little better very slowly. You should be thankful you live in Manhattan.

African Americans have brains just like everybody else... All you have to do is use them. It's real simple. Poor people should stop feeling sorry for themselves.

African Americans had to deal with inferior products for a number of years. And because many were very poor, they could not rent a car, which would allow them to shop in New Jersey. Also, African American could not get jobs in these businesses. So, sir, we won't miss you.
