    I'm not sure if he invented new words and verses, but in some of the parts he really stretches it: Dvorak's 8-minute version of Eja Mater is based on only three lines of text.

    Ghilherme Rocha, I agree with your shorthand description. However I think it is too long. Was the original wording like this? I really do not think so. I think Mr. Dvorak is overdoing it.

    The longest of the Stabat Maters, this was the work that gave him international acclaim and resulted in the commission by the New York Philharmonic orchestra in 1893 to write what turned out to be "The New World " symphony no. 9. He only stayed in America for a little more than 3 years although his influence on an " American " style of writing would prove long-lasting.
