@IndianaJesusfreak True, I would compare a Makarov's reliability to a Glock. The Makarov doesn't fire the more effective 9x19 catridge, nor does it hold as many rounds. The ergonomics of the Makarov are not as good as a Glock I'd say.
@J1Z06 thats not what hes talking about. The manufacturing processes and componets are not always uniform. So, Soviet designs were build with very large tolerances in mind, the weapons themselves are reliable but many times at the cost of accuracy. Thats what he means by that.
I think you should contact the russian manufacturer and let them know about your terrific discovery which will revolutionize the makarov's reliability by an enlarged ejection port.
Makarov was told to deliberately limit the capacity for collateral damage by making his round short range. Once you exceed 40 yards the round drops fast. Up to that point its deadly accurate. You have to remember the Tokarev which was used before the Makarov was extremely powerful thus the russian specs for a dummied down effective range. The russians foresaw the future of warfare becoming increasingly urbanized a long time ago. This is why Makarovs were short range and only 8 round cap.
@AmericanGunsmith Yeah, that makes a little more sense, but I'd call that low QUALITY not low RELIABILITY. Thanks for the interesting video anyway. =)
@antonarset Not accurate? So long as the barrel and crown is in good shape, the thing's gonna drive tacks. It's a fixed barrel. It's inherently more accurate that any other design...

I paid $125 for my Russian Makarov. It is every bit as dependable and accurate as my Golck 30.

@AmericanGunsmith We have precision weapons. The real weapons of mass should be simple and reliable than your weapon does not have
