I beg to differ as do hundreds of thousands of Scottish Borderers and lowlanders. We are proudly Scottish. The Jacobite rebellion was just that. A rebellion of Highland Catholic Scots bent on installing a monarch of the same religion. The vast majority of Scots did not support the rebellion. Don't let movies and novels paint a romantic picture of the history. The after effects of the rebellion was absolutly tragic for the highland scots and meant the end of an ancient lifestyle and clan system.

The highland clans marked their swords "Scotland and no Union" isn't that plain enough or does your latter day bigotry blind you to the honest truth. The end of the clan system came not with the 45 but with the clearances that were propogated by the clan chiefs.
