FUCK THE SEX PISTOLS. Its not trying to rip off a band btw its called having influences. Thats whats the fucking matter with punks and anarchists. They like to put down their own kind. It's inevitably how we failed! Instead of persevering and singing about what other peoples problems are instead we focused on each others'. Now it's just a memory. Anarchys even worse because most of the time people preach why their philosophy is better. Shut the fuck up just because its yours dont mean its better

@bullshitdetector101 Agreed. It's agitating.

In fact, most of the Brisbane underground scene weren't even interested in what was happening in Sydney or Melbourne...

@wolfservant5 I guess the point of it is, as you say, "just because it's yours, don't mean its better"... I kinda always thought of "Punk" as forum for people to be their own, politically, socially and physically. I find it ever- annoying that these days it seems that you have to subscribe to a particular brand of anarchist doctrine to be considered "Punk"...

@bullshitdetector101 Ego's are a big part of it, but in a way I disagree. There's such a thing as being humble. BUT... I do agree with spreading your personal ways of life, so long as its in a non-intrusive manner and backed well.

@erictheviking871 The stupidest person I've ever seen with this I think was on a 311 video, he said there was only three genres, gangsta rap, pop and rock. In his little, "system" he classified 311 as gansta' rap. Now I harbor an ideology that states that genres should be classified under layers, and ontop of that almost descriptions for modern, rock rap pop. Then the system branches off into sub genres. But that's a personal thing, I don't expect others to accept this.

Or rather, just take a look on my channel....I've made a playlist called "Brisbane Punk and related politics"... hopefully it will save a bit of time for anyone who's interested.

for further related viewing on the topic of Brisbane Punk, search youtube for Razar - Task Force, The Parameters - Pig City, Young Identities - Positive Thinking, Mystery of Sixes- Black Banned.... that's a start,,, you may also like to take a look at The Stranglers - Nuclear Device, they where so taken aback by what they found when they came here, they wrote a song about it.

Anarchists in Brisbane didn't NEED London punk to affirm their beliefs, they had already reached their own conclusions well before 1977, and we had a strong anarchic underground subculture. If anything, the outbreak of London punk just gave awareness to the fact that other people in the world were reacting similarly.

Queensland was a corrupt police state, our Premier (Joh Bjelke-Peterson) was a dithering racist hillbilly with a year 9 education,, and the Gerrymander voting system ensured that his National Party remained in power for nearly 30 years. Punk Rock was illegal music, as was almost ANYTHING that expressed frustration with the then-current state of affairs. Protests where banned, and a group of 3 or more people could be considered an illegal assembly.
cheech and chongs band from up in smoke sounds like this a little
