I've never set foot in a starbucks simply because I don't like the idea of it. I much rather go to my little local Italian owned cafe. So much more character, or am I just a sucker for an Italian accent! haha

I believe that in western society it isn't about the actual quality of coffee or even the taste. Most of the time it just comes down to an alternative to an energy drink before and during work.
Interesting clip 'Coffeemovies', and no, your search for the perfect cup of coffee is a perfectly healthy desire. Would you ever open your own coffee shop one day? I sure as hell would love to but thats when the REAL problem becomes apparent.....money!!

kill starbucks. In ancient Greece (Byzantium) it was all about moderation...Sturbucks and every other look alike coffee shop is proof that we hate modaration and an aesthetic healthy life. In ancient china the emperor used to look at what music came out of his people to see where they are spiritualy... looking at us today in every aspect of our lives its proof that we are way off... we need simplicity and love for life.

I think it is unfair to pigeon hole starbucks as the problem. After all, they are responsible for making most Americans aware of espresso drinks in the first palace. It was the advent of the fully automated espresso machine that has turned this fine art into fast food. Art imitates life. Or, is it the other way around? Our need as Americans for the quick and easy is also partially to blame. But Starbucks did what it had to do in that they kept up with the demand of their customers.

why bag on starbucks? yeah its a huge corporate chain, but a cappuccino/latte/espresso isn't that complicated and its certainly not worth fighting over. Become your own barista and buy your own espresso machine and coffee.
