Nice summary, thank you.
Look what unions went thru so we can have weekends.
Fuck Scott Walker and his mob.

Rockefeller did initiate new programs to help address workers grievances after this event, however they were company based and not individual unions. In reality this strike achieved what it set out for, except for the recognition of the United Mine Workers of America. The 10 days war which followed this event all over colorado is a much more interesting event, as millions of dollars of coal company property was destroyed, and colorado workers went into a state of rebellion.

Be on your guards. These situations could come back. Today's billionaires are of the same kind then the ones in these days. For them, the ideal employee is one that works until he dies and asks nothing in return.

Death to the corporations!

It's a shame that in US there is so much people hating true socialism (bolshevism excluded) and libertarian socialism ideas. Without people fighting and struggling for these ideals the working class would have been totally turned in to mindless slaves without any consiousness of their position in the capitalist hierarchy. But whatever, ideology is not most important thing becouse as long as there will be people fighting for their emancipation for whatever reasons, the struggle will not be lost.

@yepheth ... You can guess why the Ludlow massacre is not well-known in the United States. It's not "bosses." It's not "corporations." It's the system that allows corporations and their "bosses" (i.e. CEOs & corporate boards) to dominate everything people do in the U.S. They now do it so well most Americans don't even realize they lost their voices in vote. As of Jan. 2010, elections in the U.S. are directly paid for by corporations, who set up candidates & their platforms & run campaigns.

@retroflow44 Corporations are the combining of business with government, whether they are regulators that keep competition out, or politicians giving out political favors for returns in support$. Ludlow is a Typical Coporate/Government Fascistic slaughter. Bureacrats have no expertise, they have authority bestowed on them by the people, Business has the expertise, and write their own rules with the blessing from these authoritarians. Combined they create an elite priviledge class.

@dons123111 The Gov't was working on behalf of the Capitalists, early Corporations. The best Gov't money can buy. Still serving the interests of Big Business first, before the needs of the People even today.

Ludlow massacre episode is pretty known here in Italy. Rockefeller was just a gangster who got respectablity after commiting many crimes. It's something that reminds me a bit about nowadays russian businessmen.
