The Straits - http://www.thestraits.com/ Performing Private Investigations at The Royal Albert Hall, London I shot this in HD and it seems to have come out ok. I used a little compact camera (my Sony HV9) from the furthest point from the stage but used its16 x zoom... sorry when it gets a jogged, but I started to worry about the memory and battery (oops).

I make music and have been influenced by The Knopflers and Dire Straits. You can check it out at:

cant be doing with this....a one off charity event was one thing, but now they are going to TOUR in October????....this is wrong and will harm the reputation of the band like all the late line ups of Slade 2 et al did....if Knopfler isnt in it, it's not dire nor Straits...it's a rip off by session musicians captialising on Knopflers writing....because Alan Clark aside, Chris White and Phil Palmer were only ever session musicians....arrow me down if you like but if I were Knopfler I'd be fuming..

@simonsdiary yes an interesting forum, i read your blog as well....very well written.....i realise that lots of people are up for the Straits, everyone has a choice....I'm probably too much of a passionate fan of Knopfler...I just think this devalues the Dire Straits brand....

You guys have no idea and cannot talk if you havent been to the concert!!! These guys were absolutely amazing and did an incredible job!!! And as much as "the straits" need mk, mk needs the straits, -shame he doesnt know about it!!!! At least the straits let this stunning music live on, -which mk doesnt seem to be interested in!!! But thats exactly what the crowed wanted and came for, -real DS fans!!! Well done!!!

@ilovejoghurt Thank you... in a way the issue of whether the fans or artist lead the way is never a black and white issue... even though many people think it is. I kind of veer toward the artist, but can see your point too.

@ ekstradycja : Far from it. Were you there? How do you know they were not interested, you friends with them personally? Dont be such a Sour Puss, the private show was electrifying, and they played brilliantly. I heard DS first time round .... this is The Straits, but has all the trappings and talent of the original. Give them a break!

In fairness to Terrence Reis, I think he's doing a good job as frontman. And it's great to get the opportunity to witness the music of Dire Straits in concert once again, even if Knopfler isn't on board. Just enjoy it for what it is, good band, good music.

Niestety DS już dawno nie ma i nigdy nie będzie. I bardzo dobrze bo odgrzewane kotlety są niesmaczne. Dla mnie żenujące widowisko kilku Panów, którzy kiedyś występowali pod skrzydłami Knopflera, a teraz grają skomponowane przez Niego utwory.
