Once I thought of God as...

I've been enjoying this song recently and would like to share it with you all :) I was enlightened to see that God is not here today for us - we are here for Him! It's not about God merely supplying us with x, y and z (whatever our needs or wants may be) - our God most especially desires a place to dwell, this place being our spirit! Our spirit is the place where He dwells and it is here where we are joint with the members of His body to express the living God (Ephesians 2:22, 1 Timothy 3:15).

I don't know the origin of this song, but I do appreciate it and hope that you all may enjoy it too! :)

1. Once I thought of God as Father Christmas,
His only purpose to supply my dreams,
But now I see He's really very different,
My God is One Who also has a need.
He is One Who's really very lonely,
He is One Who needs a place to dwell;
Though He made everything,
He needs a man to dwell in,
A man who will express His very self.

2. His Body is not one that is divided,
His members are not ones that are apart;
His life is flowing now through all the members,
Providing them with boundless strength and life,
Through this He's moving to subdue the earth now,
Step by step He's conquering more each day;
And I am part of Him,
I'm built up as a member,
Affording Him more movement every day.

3. Come join us in the building of the church now,
By growth in life we're built up more each day,
Through corporate fellowship in all the meetings,
And when alone by opening to Him.
Our Lord by this will get His heart's desire,
Our being for this cause we gladly give;
O Lord, do grow in us,
Do build us as Your Body,
That we may now express You on the earth.
