My Name is Donna and this is a video I put together for my daughter who has struggled through a chronic illness...I set it to me singing the song "Above The Clouds" originally recorded by Cyndi Lauper. It was important that I sing this myself..please excuse a few bum notes :) MY daughter has endured Chemo therapy, loosing all her hair.. many hospitalizations..and at times over 20 different medications multiple times a day, to try and maintain her health to be fit for a transplant. She has the heart of a lion and has taught myself and others the true meaning of courage. In July of this year she recieved a kidney from her father.. I hope to make others aware of the great need for organ donation.I'd also like to put in a plug for
Hip Hats who took my brother in laws donated hair and made Rach a hair piece when she lost her hair. "Give The Gift Of Life"

  • This is so beautiful Donna.

  • I am a huge Cyndi Lauper fan and I was a bit skeptical when I decided to watch this video but WOW! Beautiful rendition! You have an amazing voice and you were able to give a unique soul into the song... Very soulful! And this is further bolstered by the rationale behind this song. Beautiful... and I wish you and your daughter a beautiful sojourn in life. :) Hugs.

  • very, very well done!! Great interpretation of cyndi's song.

All the best for you and Rach.

  • i love your voice!

  • I just love that this song and singer reach so deep to express such strong emotions. I really get choked up. Both of you are inspirations always.

  • God bless Rachels, and i hope she'll enjoy her new life!! it's a good composition from ur side..and it's good to hear that her father donated a kidney,

  • i might get bad comments for this, but i actually love your version more than cyndi's! it has much more feeling and passion, I love it so much!!!

  • This touched my heart. You sang it beautifully. I posted this in myspace in your honor! We all need to work together to create awareness! Thank you for sharing!

  • I was searching this song to see if there was a copy of Cyndi Lauper singing it live, when I found yours. At first I thought, "What the???" But I'm glad to say it was amazing. So pure and heartfelt.

My step dad died 10 years ago. He had received a heart transplant, but it only worked a few months. I met so many people in the hospital awaiting a new organ.

We are truely blessed by organ donations.

Thank you. I join the many others moved to tears by this video (but that's a gift too!)
