  • Thankfully I'm a Chiropractor and not an Medical doctor. But yes, I do have a Bachelor's degree in science, though somewhat outdated now. And also thankfully, I came to faith in Christ as a young man of 20, before I was unduly influenced by the bias of skeptics.

  • No, it means those issues which were of a cultural/historical nature of that day are made relevant by understanding the principals rather than strictly adhering to archaic standards. For example, Paul exhorts women to dress modestly. In that day, women dressing modestly was likely different than we would consider it today, yet the principal stands, that women should dress modestly within the context of OUR society, not as they did when Paul penned the instruction.

  • You understand the reasoning and augments I wonder why you believe in a book which was put to gather for political control by the eastern Roman Empire. based on the morals of the time and there limited understanding of the world

  • I don't believe that was the purpose of biblical canonization. I think you confuse its abuse with its true purpose, and though the bible is written within a historical and cultural context, those principals which it teaches are timeless.

  • @MsGerrytodd Oi, quit the insults mate, I'm an atheist but for some reason this is one christian that I can respect, he's the only christian who seems to understand what atheism really is. Even if he's a christian, he doesn't seem like a radical and crazy ones who stick their believes into your face, so I'd say that his believes are harmless. Instead of making fun of him, why don't you just ask questions.

  • As an Atheist this was very interesting to listen too.

It is unusual to see a theist use intelligence and psychological insight to defend what they believe as opposed to bombarding someone with fallible verse after verse from a book.

In all essence what normally gets to Atheists the most is the arrogance and demeaning manner that most theists possess as they tell you how you will suffer eternally and die and they are right because they blindly follow something they have never challenged...

  • thanks for a very considerate video as I sometimes feel embarassed how people represent christianity. you seem to have a good grasp of the bible which is refreshing. To some extend I feel christ needed to purge the system of corruption by those who claimed to be the chosen ones as Jesus put that to myth but it explains part of the corruption claimed to be in the name of God in the old testament. It happened again when church mixed with politics in the roman empire.

  • @NegationZero Its a temporarily separation

  • @Tony2438 This is the first time I've ever seen "together" turn into "to gather."

  • @MrCommonSense100 thanks man...I'm glad you're not a racist pedophile :P

  • 3. I was actually in favor of the bible compared to other religious texts, but as time went by I realized that the bible was just as primitive and violent as other religious texts. My question is, why do you favor this particular religious text over others?

  • 2. If all we have are senses that only work in a material world, how can we for sure know we have something beyond the material world?

  • Thanx or your reply

    1. I would imagine it would conjure up at least some doubt; especially considering that the bible is not a "book" in the sense of a linear novel, rather a collection of random documents written by different ppl, during different times and places and not knowing if the bible is truly complete. Coupled with the possibility of mistranslation/manipulation from being passed down in the wrong hands, and anyone being capable of lying.

    3. I have a general understanding of the monotheistic religions and somewhat less of others, and in fact have recently read the entire Koran and the Bhagavad Gita.
