I'm a big fan of Bruce Gilbert, too, and I really miss what he brought to Wire.
-
Absolutely. Newman's work is okay, but when he tries to be too artsy (like Commercial Suicide) he just falls short (though I do like A-Z myself).
But I agree Gilbert and Lewis are really great either alone or as a duo.
-
I think you're right.
I bought the A-Z album from Colin NEWMAN but I largely prefer the influence of Bruce (or Graham) in WIRE, ... or in solo.
I like to hear Bruce talking, a very pleasant voice.

Extremely under-rated; I'd go so far as to consider him one of the most intelligent musicians today. But I love him as much as 90's school girls loved N'Sync.
-
Thanx for the post.
I love GILBERT solo works. He's very underrated.

@erixoff He does have a lovely voice.
Very interesting, strange man. Talented, in a curious, unorthodox way. Which really is the best way to be talented.
