Hey Nixie,
I am trying to decide on a distro, but really am not sure. Do you use Ubuntu 11.10? If so, do you like it? Is it something you think it would be worth using as a full time distro?

For anyone that really want to get the classic feel you should probably use something like LXDE or XFCE... of course if you combine something like XFCE and Nautilus you would be pretty close to the gnome 2 feel and handle of things..

hm.... i personaly like unity. ofcors at first i hated it, but now i installed ubuntu 12.04 and kinda got used to it :) So before calling it crap, try it for a couple of weeks. The only thing thats bothering me still is the launcher, which is, btw, fixable with bliss launcher.

@SlaveExplosion Its not about who pioneered it. Its about Ubuntu looking more and more like MacOS. It leaves the classical Fedora, Debian like look and feel and switches to the MacOS style to attract more and more Users.
If you like that ...

Unity is shit. Gnome 3 has it's problems but it is infinitely better than unity. Linux Mint has been gaining a lot of users since Ubuntu is going downhill.
